Group APrasanth Kumar put in a an all-round show, picking up 2 for 39 and then scoring 51 to help Andhra to a six wicket win over Himachal Pradesh in Bhubaneshwar.Put in by Andhra, Himachal managed 122 from their 20 overs. Only three batsman managed double-digit scores as they were helped mainly by Prashant Chopra’s 43 and Rishi Dhawan’s 37. Cheepurapalli Stephen snared 2 for 14 and Bandaru Ayyappa had figures of 2 for 19 .Andhra’s reply started with a 42-run opening stand, which was broken with the fall of AG Pradeep’s wicket. Prasanth then compiled 65 with Ashwin Hebbar but fell to Rahul Singh soon after reaching his fifty.Rahul also dismissed the captain Mohammed Kaif for 6, and Akshay Chauhan got rid of Ricky Bhui for 1, but Hebbar remained unbeaten on 44 and saw his side home with four balls to spare.Gujarat beat Jharkand by six wickets in a low-scoring game in Bhubaneshwar in which only five batsmen from both sides put together managed double figure scores.Put in, Jharkand lost Shiv Gautam on the fifth ball of the first over. Jasprit Bumrah then dismissed Virat Singh for 4, leaving them at 10 for 2. Ishank Jaggi and Ishan Kisan were soon dismissed by Rohit Dahiya putting Jharkand on 31 for 4. Dahiya ended with figures of 3 for 7.Jharkand couldn’t arrest the fall of wickets as Jasprit Bumrah, Rush Kalaria and Jesal Karia picked up two wickets each as Jharkand’s innings folded in for a paltry 78 in 19.2 overs.Vikash Kumar picked up two wickets to reduce Gujarat to 25 for 2 inside four overs a 19-run stand between Smit Patel and Rujul Bhatt before Bhatt was bowled by Rituraj Singh leaving Gujarat at 44 for 3.They lost one more wicket before an unbeaten 29-run fifth wicket stand between Chirag Gandhi and Himalaya Barad saw them over the line with 46 balls to spare.Group BMandeep Singh starred with the bat in a tense 147-run chase for Punjab as they beat Hyderabad by 1 wicket in Cuttack.Put in to bat, Hyderabad made 146 for 5 in their 20 overs. Tirumalasetti Suman and Tanmay Agarwal put on a 60-run opening stand before Taruwar Kohli picked up Suman for 31 off the last ball of the ninth over. Two balls later, Kaul had Agarwal caught for 22. Andhra lost three more wickets and managed 50 runs in the final five overs.Punjab began their chase briskly making 23 in 2.5 overs before Ravi Kiran had Jaskaranveer Singh caught behind for 7 on the final ball of the third over. Off his next ball – at the start of the fifth over – the bowler got rid of Manan Vohra, leaving Punjab at 30 for 2. Inder Singh and Mandeep added 44 for the third wicket as Punjab went past 50 before the partnership was broken by Akash Bhandari in the 11th over. They soon slid from 114 for 3 to 144 for 9, and Mandeep was one of the batsmen to fall after making 63 off 43 balls, with eight fours and a six. Chama Milind did most of the damage taking 4 for 24, including the wickets of Brainder Sran and Gurinder Singh off the first two balls of the final over. Punjab needed only two runs to win at the start of the over and they secured a win off the third ball of the final over.Debutant left-arm spinner Shesdeep Patra picked up 5 for 18 in three overs to help Odisha beat Mumbai by 17 runs in a 15-over-a-side game in Cuttack.Chasing 126, Mumbai lost two wickets in the first over – of Akhil Herwadkar and Jay Bista for ducks – to Deepak Behera, leaving the score at 1 for 2. Shoaib Shaikh (34) was then part of two 30-plus partnerships which steadied the innings, until Patra struck. He picked three wickets in the 12th over, of Shoaib, Abhishekh Raut and Rohan Raje, reducing them to 85 for 7. Patra then ran through the middle and lower order, as Mumbai were bowled out for 108 in 14.4 overs. Behera finished with 2 for 9 from two overs.Earlier, Odisha chose to bat and raced to 33 in 3.3 overs before Akash Parkar broke the opening stand. Odisha, however, didn’t lose momentum and Govinda Podder added 48 with Roshan Kumar Rao before Podder fell in the 10th over, leaving Odisha at 81 for 2.They then lost three wickets within a space of six balls. Raut dismissed Arabind Singh in the 12th over, then Rao was run-out by Herwadkar four balls later, for a 34-ball 48, and Raje then cleaned up Biplab Samantaray to leave Odisha at 95 for 5. Raje picked up two more wickets as Suryakant Pradhan made a seven-ball 20 to help Odisha to 125 for 8.

All-round Asalanka downs Bangladesh

Charith Asalanka starred with bat and ball as Sri Lanka Under-19s comfortably beat Bangladesh Under-19s in the first of the five Youth ODIs played in Colombo

ESPNcricinfo staff19-Jan-2015
ScorecardCharith Asalanka starred with bat and ball as Sri Lanka Under-19s comfortably beat Bangladesh Under-19s in the first of the five Youth ODIs played in Colombo. His 4 for 36 was instrumental in restricting Bangladesh to 202 after the visitors had opted to bat, then he followed it up with 63 as Sri Lanka cruised to the target with 5.4 overs to spare.Bangladesh started poorly. When Asalanka dismissed Zakir Hasan in the 18th over, Bangladesh were 51 for 3. An 80-run stand between Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mehedy Hasan helped Bangladesh recover, but two quick wickets in the 35th and the 37th overs hampered their progress. Nazmul was stumped in the 40th over, bowled by Asalanka, and Bangladesh were later bowled out in the 50th over.Sri Lanka’s brisk start to the chase suffered a minor jolt in the seventh over when opener Kaveen Bandara was run out but Asalanka and Lasith Lakshan added 124 for the second wicket to thwart Bangladesh bowlers. Although Lakshan (71 off 107) and Asalanka were dismissed within the space of 12 balls, Sri Lanka were untroubled.

Kamini 192 and Kaur's nine flay South Africa

Centuries from Thirush Kamini and Poonam Raut was underpinned by Harmanpreet Kaur’s nine wickets as India Women beat South Africa Women by an innings and 34-run win in the only Test in Mysore

ESPNcricinfo staff19-Nov-2014
ScorecardFile photo: Poonam Raut and Thirush Kamini added a record 275 runs for the second wicket in the first innings•AFPCenturies from Thirush Kamini and Poonam Raut imposed enough scoreboard pressure for Harmanpreet Kaur to run through South Africa Women as India Women recorded an innings and 34-run win in the only Test in Mysore.India had won the toss and their top-order ensured the advantage would be converted despite an early setback. Smrithi Mandhana, who was dismissed for 8, was the only wicket to fall on the first day as Kamini and Raut strung a 275-run second-wicket stand – a world record – that smothered South Africa. Kamini’s 192 took 430 balls, with 24 four and a six and is the second-best score by an India batsman in Women’s Tests after her captain Mithali Raj’s 214 against England in August 2002. Raut struck 130 off 255 balls, with 18 fours. India declared on 400 for 6, with offspinner Sunette Loubser responsible for three of those wicketsEight of the visitors’ XI were making their debuts, including captain Mignon du Preez who rallied with 102 off 253 balls which formed the spine of the South African reply until it was broken. She struck 15 fours and had added 102 runs for the fifth wicket with Trisha Chetty, who reached a maiden fifty before India hit back. Seamer Kaur took 5 for 44, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad’s offspin accounted for four batsmen as South Africa unravelled from 209 for 4 to be 234 all out – four of those wickets fell on 234.Asked to follow-on, South Africa could only muster 132 with Chetty’s 35 off 131 balls being the top score. The openers were dismissed for single-figures, and were joined by five of their team-mates as Kaur picked up 4 for 41 to finish with 9 for 85 for the match, the second-best figures by an Indian bowler.

Harris bowls Australia to last-gasp win

The Report by Brydon Coverdale05-Mar-2014
Scorecard and ball-by-ball detailsRyan Harris goes under the knife for knee surgery after this series – he does not know what the future holds. He may play Test cricket again, but at 34 there are no guarantees. Whatever happens, he has delivered one of the great triumphs in Australia’s recent Test history, bowling the team to a series victory over South Africa, the world’s No.1-ranked side, when it seemed almost inevitable that Graeme Smith would be farewelled by his men with a fighting, fitting draw.Vernon Philander and Dale Steyn batted together for 75 minutes as Australia sought the two remaining wickets they needed for victory and as the shadows grew longer, the looks on the faces of Michael Clarke and his men became more desperate. With five overs left, Clarke asked Harris for one last effort and he delivered, yorking Steyn first ball and then slipping one past Morne Morkel’s bat two balls later to clatter the off stump and deliver a 245-run win, and a 2-1 series success.Harris finished with 4 for 32 from 24.3 overs, a remarkable achievement for a man who looked spent. At times throughout the day he was hobbling and he pulled up in his delivery stride once late in the day, stretching and checking on his knee as he walked back to his mark again. Mitchell Johnson picked up three wickets but Harris was the man who delivered when it mattered most, including by getting rid of the stonewalling AB de Villiers after lunch.Ryan Harris delivered for Michael Clarke on the last day•Getty ImagesFor much of the day it seemed that South Africa might just pull off one last draw for Smith. Under his leadership they won a lot but just as notable has been their ability not to lose. Their last series defeat before this was against Australia five years ago. Smith will leave the game having lost only two of his last 27 Test series as captain. That is some sort of record. In the end, his men were unable to keep the Australians out for long enough. That a day on which only 194 runs were scored in 93.3 overs could be so gripping is encouraging for Test cricket. This day was never going to be about the runs; South Africa could have batted until day seven and not reached their target of 511. It was simply a question of wickets – could Australia claim the six they needed throughout the day. South Africa’s ability to bat out a draw in similar circumstances in Adelaide a year and a half ago suggested that it would be tough work. And as in Adelaide, de Villiers and Faf du Plessis did their best to deny Australia. They came together after the nightwatchman Kyle Abbott frustrated the Australians during a near two-hour innings of defiant defence. At times when he faced Johnson all nine fielders were in catching positions. Eventually he fell for 7 from 89 balls when he shouldered arms to a James Pattinson ball that nipped in and clipped the top of off stump.De Villiers was laborious but effective for South Africa’s purposes, using up 326 minutes and 228 balls for his 43. Harris was the man who got rid of de Villiers, who pushed half-heartedly outside off stump and got a thick edge behind off a ball that nipped away just enough off the seam. It was a vital breakthrough after lunch, although an equally important one came just before tea when Steven Smith struck in the first ball of a new spell, drifting one in and turning it just enough to have du Plessis lbw for 47.That left four wickets needed in the final session. Worryingly for Clarke, Nathan Lyon was having no impact, just as had been the case in that Adelaide draw. At times he bowled too quick, and like his colleagues, offered up too many balls that the South Africans could leave. The Australians became frazzled and frayed, but Clarke managed to manufacture a wicket by placing a leg slip, Lyon, who pouched a leg glance off Johnson to end JP Duminy’s innings on 43.But Philander and Steyn were not going to fold quickly. Philander was the only South African who really played his shots throughout the final day, but rarely did he create a chance. Even more impressive was that he spent part of the innings battling a painful blow to his hand after an accidental beamer from Pattinson jammed him on the right glove. Another glove-related incident was to come.Immediately before the final hour began, the Australians won an out decision from Aleem Dar when Johnson banged in a short ball that tickled Philander’s thumb on the way to being caught, but Philander asked for a review. The third umpire, Richard Illingworth, felt there was enough evidence that Philander’s hand was off the bat at the time when the ball struck his glove and overturned the decision, much to the dismay of the Australians, and things really heated up on the field after that.Whatever Clarke tried did not seem to work. Philander and Steyn just batted on and on. The bowlers wearied, and sent down ball after ball that could be left alone. Until Clarke asked Harris to finish the job. Two wickets in three balls, both hitting the stumps. An emotional series win for Australia, whose summer ended with seven wins and one loss. A gut-wrenching loss for Smith in his final match. But mostly, it was a fittingly tight way for the campaign to end. Australia had the better of the series, but South Africa made them earn it. It was not until the last five overs of the last hour of the last day of the last Test of the series that the outcome was determined. And if every Test series was like that, the game would be in pretty good shape.

Compton focuses on survival

Somerset – with Nick Compton back near to his resolute best – avoided what would have been a devastating defeat on the eve of their FLt20 quarter-final against Surrey

David Lloyd at Taunton05-Aug-2013
ScorecardNick Compton made a battling, unbeaten half-century to help secure a draw for Somerset•Getty ImagesOne team made almost all the running in this match but at least Somerset – with Nick Compton back near to his resolute best – avoided what would have been a devastating defeat on the eve of their FLt20 quarter-final against Surrey.A brief but spectacular downpour ended the contest two and half hours early but Nottinghamshire’s enthusiasm had already been blunted by Compton’s excellent unbeaten 70.Even given the hosts’ vulnerability in Championship cricket, it was asking an awful lot of Nottinghamshire to force a win after the loss of 108 overs to bad weather earlier in the match. And with Andre Adams off the field because of a hamstring injury, their only real hope was another Somerset implosion. There were not many spectators at the County Ground on Monday but it is safe to assume that a majority of those present feared the worst, from a home perspective, when their team was made to follow on 190 runs behind.Steve Kirby, out to the morning’s second ball, could not be blamed for the perilous position. But, somehow, the No. 10’s dismissal – prodding a catch to silly point after pushing forward at spinner Samit Patel and then thumping his bat into the ground with real fury – seemed to sum up Somerset’s despair.A draw, earning just six points after Sunday’s victory for bottom of the table Derbyshire and with eighth-placed Surrey now having a game in hand, was nothing to celebrate. But a defeat might have done irreparable damage to morale with five matches remaining. Thanks principally to Compton, but with some valuable help from Marcus Trescothick, Chris Jones and James Hildreth, Notts were never given much more than a sniff of a victory that would have strengthened their challenge to move away from the lower reaches of the table. And when a storm of tropical, if not near biblical, proportions broke with 38 overs remaining, Somerset’s mission was looking manageable. The two teams took tea but they might just as well have taken straight to their cars.”It was a match saved and it’s better than losing,” Compton said, once hands had been shaken on the draw. “It was nice to show a rearguard action after our first innings, when we simply didn’t get enough runs. When you are trying to stay in the first division you need to get big first-innings scores.”Notts’ 378 looked a bit over par while Somerset’s 188 had been horribly short of competitive – several of the home batsmen, Compton included, having gifted their wickets.”I think speaking specifically for myself that was one of the worst shots I have played in a long time,” admitted Compton, who has had to pick himself up from the crushing, and unexpected, disappointment of being omitted from England’s Ashes plans. “I think our concentration was a lot better in the second innings.”Somerset’s future in Division One remains far from certain. And the same is true of Compton’s career at Taunton, the opener having so far declined to sign a new contract. He said he is likely to reach a decision in the next couple of weeks while stressing the importance of remaining in the top tier.”It’s very important to stay in the first division,” Compton said. “I’ve made it known I’m very keen to get back into the England fold. All of us here want to be playing first division cricket. It’s a first division club, that’s why I came here [from Middlesex in 2010], and days like today, with people showing fight and sticking their hands up, is what it’s going to take to stay up.”I’m not sure about my future. I’ve had my head down focusing on my career and I want to make sure the England selectors don’t forget me. So my mind hasn’t really been on it but I will make a decision in the next couple of weeks or so.”Compton’s county can only hope he decides to stay. It will take more than hope, though, to keep them in Division One.

Goleador do Guarani retorna à equipe e mira artilharia do Paulistão

Quero seguir nessa batida, sempre honrando as cores do Guarani.
