Pakistan Television fought back from a 70-run first-innings deficit to register a six-wicket win against Karachi Zebras in Karachi. Fast-bowler Mohammad Abbas was central to PTV’s revival; the bowler registered his best figures – 7 for 57 – in the second innings to skittle Zebras out for 139. The top order, led by fifties from Raheel Majeed and Zeeshan Mushtaq, then made short work of the 210-run target.Zebras, after opting to bat, were led to 261 in the first innings by an unbeaten 89 from captain Owais Rehmani. The innings helped the team recover from 98 for 5. PTV stumbled in their first innings too as no one apart from Nawaz Ahmed (93) crossed 23. Mansoor Ahmed picked up five wickets in the inning. However, Zebras let the advantage slip with a poor second innings, collapsing against Abbas for the second time in the match. Abbas finished with match figures of 10 for 105.Pakistan International Airlines consolidated their position at the top of the Group I table with a commanding 10-wicket win against Hyderabad Hawks. The PIA bowlers struck at regular intervals and limited Hawks to 173 after putting them in.The batsmen then responded strongly: opener Shehzar Mohammad scored his maiden first-class century while Fahad Iqbal (63), Faisal Iqbal (58) and Shoaib Khan snr (81) supported him to raise 415 on the board.Hawks had a shaky start – they were 5 for 2 – but recovered to 104 for 2. However, debutant Hazrat Shah struck in quick succession and Hawks stumbled to 242 all out, only just avoiding the innings loss. PIA were required to bat again to score the one run they needed.Seamer Yasir Ali five wickets triggered a Quetta Bears second-innings collapse that led to their 10-wicket loss at the hands of Khan Research Laboratories. Bears trailed by 52 runs after the first innings, but lost four top-order wickets before erasing the deficit. Only three batsmen registered double-digit scores and the team was skittled out for 91. The KRL openers scored the requisite 41 runs within ten overs to give the team their second win in two matches.Bears’ first innings would have been a disaster was it not for Shahzad Tareen’s 87 as the next best score from their batsman was 21. Only one other batsman went past 10. In contrast, none of KRL’s batsmen registered a fifty, but there were enough contributions to lift the team past 200.Group IIA century from the captain Imran Farhat, and a seven-wicket match haul from Umar Gul helped Habib Bank Limited thrash Abbottabad Falcons by an innings and 14 runs.Having been inserted, Falcons lost three quick wickets in their first innings, but recovered with an 80-run stand for the fourth wicket between Umar Nawaz (49) and Khalilullah (33). However, from 104 for 3, the team collapsed to 185 all out as Gul (5 for 41), Abdul Ameer and Abdur Rehman struck at regular intervals. In reply, Habib Bank managed 316 to collect a lead of 131. Imran Farhat struck 18 fours during his 113, while the likes of Hasan Raza, Humayun Farhat and Rehman chipped in with handy scores down the order to lift the total over 300.Falcons did not fare any better in their second essay, as none of their batsmen could muster more than 18. Seamer Sarmad Anwar was the pick of Habib Bank’s bowlers and finished with 4 for 40, as Falcons were bundled out for 117 inside 41 overs, wrapping up a huge victory.Sui Southern Gas Corporation’s all-round brilliance was on show in their commanding innings and 243-run win against Faisalabad Wolves in Faisalabad. Seamer Tariq Haroon smashed a century from No. 8 while Tabish Khan hit a fifty and returned with match haul of seven wickets to prop up Sui Gas to the top of the Group II table. After Sui Gas opted to bowl, Tabish, along with Mohammad Irfan, ran through the Faisalabad team to dismiss them for 118. Both bowlers picked up four wickets apiece as only four batsmen registered double-digits scores. In response, Sui Gas took lead with only three wickets lots and were 104-run ahead when Tarid came to the crease. He went on to hit 15 fours and four sixes to register his second first-class hundred. Tabish gave him good company, the two adding 182 runs for the eighth wicket. Sui Gas finished the innings 343 ahead of Faisalabad. The home team fared worse in the second innings, collapsing to 100 all out. They started poorly – stumbling to 3-1 – and never recovered. Tabish was the one who did the early damage and finished with 7 for 51 in the match.

Diego Alves garantiu a classificação do Fla.

Harris to make first-class return from injury

Ryan Harris will make his comeback to first-class cricket in the Sheffield Shield on Sunday and is hoping to prove his readiness for a return to the Australia side for the opening Test against India at the Gabba in three weeks

Ryan Harris has barely been sighted on a cricket field since bowling Australia to a series win in Cape Town in March•Getty Images

Ryan Harris admits there have been plenty of times during his latest rehab from knee surgery that he wondered whether or not all these lonely gym visits were worth it. More than once he contemplated retirement.Sick of the sight of the National Cricket Centre Gym, Harris will make his comeback to first-class cricket in the Sheffield Shield on Sunday and is hoping to prove his readiness for a return to the Australia side for the opening Test against India at the Gabba in three weeks. Harris has been named in the Queensland team for their home Shield game against New South Wales. It will be his first outing at first-class level since he bowled Australia to a series win over South Africa on the final day in Cape Town in March. His workload over the summer left Harris in desperate need of knee surgery and his recovery from that operation put him out of action for more than six months. Thoughts of giving up were warded off dreams of England next year.”I’d be lying if I said I didn’t – it’s always crossed my mind at 35,” Harris said in Brisbane. “But the bottom line is I still want to play, I still think I’ve got something to give and I finished the last series in Africa, the first two Tests I didn’t bowl too well and was getting a bit worried if I could get back to my best and I did in Cape Town. So I’ve still got unfinished business, especially with those Ashes there as well. I still want to make sure I can try to get there.”The negative thoughts were knocked out pretty quickly by the positive thought and saying if I was to give up now I’d still have unfinished business and I don’t want that. I’ve definitely had negative thoughts, I’m sick of going to the NCC gym and doing the stuff I had to do, but I had to do it to get where I am now.”I’d love to make England. It’s a long way off again, but I think the ultimate would be to get through all the cricket this summer and then get to England and have a chance to defend the Ashes, that’d be great. Then I’ll see where I’m at from there. It’s been tough getting back, probably the hardest rehab I’ve had to go through mentally and even physically, questioning whether I can do it and all that sort of stuff. But once I get to this stage now where I’m close to playing and back playing cricket amongst the boys, that’s when I still really want to do it.”Harris would likely be a certain starter for the India series if he can prove his fitness and form for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield over the next fortnight. Ranked the No.2 Test bowler in the world behind Dale Steyn, Harris would be a key addition for the Australians on the familiar home pitches after their bowling attack struggled on the slower surfaces against Pakistan in the UAE.”I wasn’t happy the way I bowled last week, that’s natural, I always have those sorts of dummy spits when I come back from injury,” Harris said after match figures of 3 for 94 from 27 overs in a Futures League match. “The more I bowl the better I get so its just going to take time, and hopefully I can get back to decent form during the Shield game, and if I get picked to play the first Test I do, and if I don’t I’ll keep playing for Queensland and hopefully bowling well.”There’s two games before the Test, I might have to use both of them, but who knows. I think I can do it, I’ve done it before, the thing for me is I’ve had five and a half months out, I try to get back to the way I was bowling when I last bowled in two bowls and it’s just not possible. So every time I bowl its felt better. Every time I do bowl I feel like I’m improving. Hopefully I don’t bowl 50 overs in the game because it means Queensland are in a bit of trouble as well, but the more I bowl in game conditions I know I’ll get better.”Most of all Harris, simply needs to get used to the feeling of bowling with pain in his battered right knee. It is better than it was in Cape Town, but will always give him some level of grief. “It just gets sore. All I need now is getting back to the mental toughness of knowing my knee’s going to be sore and getting through it,” he said. “Bottom line my knee in South Africa towards the end of that series was cooked.”It’s a lot better now, so I’ve just got to get back to that pain and getting my mind around it. Also getting the load that has to go through it, standing on my feet for so long, it hasn’t had that for a long time, so it’s going to take a couple more games before it gets right.”

Rehman back at Somerset for 2015

Abdur Rehman will return to Somerset as their overseas player in 2015, the club have announced

ESPNcricinfo staff07-Nov-2014

Pakistan spinner Abdur Rehman is expected to be available to play a full season with Somerset in 2015•AFP

Abdur Rehman will return to Somerset as their overseas player in 2015. The Pakistan spinner enjoyed a successful spell with Somerset in 2012 – as well as picking up a 12-week ban for smoking cannabis – and becomes the club’s first signing since Matthew Maynard was appointed as director of cricket in September.Slow left-armer Rehman has taken 99 Test wickets but was not involved in Pakistan’s most recent series, the 2-0 win over Australia in which spinners Zulfiqar Babar and Yasir Shah played starring roles. Rehman’s last ODI, in March, saw him removed from the attack for bowling three illegal full tosses but if his international career is now at an end it will be to the benefit of Somerset, who have signed him for a full season, an increasingly rare luxury for counties.”I am very happy to be going back to play for Somerset,” Rehman said. “I hugely enjoyed my time at the County Ground two years ago and I look forward to playing for the county again for the whole of this coming season.”Rehman, 34, took 27 wickets at 14.18 in four Championship matches in 2012, including a career-best 9 for 65 against Worcestershire, and was due to return the following season before being called up by Pakistan. As well as bringing the experience of an 17-year playing career, he will be able to tutor Somerset’s two young left-arm spinners, Ireland international George Dockrell and Jack Leach, both of whom recently signed new contracts.Having topped the Championship table at the halfway stage of the 2014 season, Somerset subsided to finish sixth and made the decision to part company with Dave Nosworthy as director of cricket. Of their 16 matches, Somerset drew 10 – the most in either division – and Maynard hopes that Rehman will add bite to the attack and help break down opponents, particularly at batsmen-friendly Taunton.”Abdur Rehman is a really good signing for us,” Maynard said. “He is a quality spin bowler and will hopefully help us to turn some of those draws into victories. Abdur will be coming back into an environment he is familiar with and playing alongside team-mates who he knows from the time he spent here a few years ago. He is also a more than useful lower order batsman, a terrier in the field and is available in all three formats all season. He’s a quality all-round cricketer for us to sign.”

Williamson wants hardened New Zealand

Kane Williamson hopes the ODI series against Pakistan will expose his players to the pressures of 50-over matches and help build a strong squad for the World Cup

ESPNcricinfo staff06-Dec-2014

Kane Williamson: “It’s not so much an audition, it’s very much about workloads as well”•AFP

Kane Williamson, the stand-in New Zealand captain, hopes the ODI series against Pakistan will expose his players to the pressures of 50-over matches and help build a strong squad for the World Cup.”I think it’s very important that we’ve got some young players and they’re getting [to play] cricket,” Williamson said. “Heading into a World Cup, more often than not, you don’t get the team exactly how you want it. You get an injury or two and various other things can happen, so it is important that we have a variety of people or personnel playing at the highest level so when it comes to World Cup time guys have had some experiences under that sort of pressure.”It’s not so much an audition, it’s very much about workloads as well. There’s so much cricket before the World Cup so we’re very conscious of that but we also want to put out our strongest side at the time.”Seven players of the New Zealand ODI squad have played less than 20 matches each. They will be without the talismanic Brendon McCullum, and Tim Southee and Trent Boult won’t be around to grab wickets with the new ball. They will, however, have the raw pace of Adam Milne and Matt Henry. Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills are canny limited-overs bowlers and Daniel Vettori has been something of a lucky charm for New Zealand on the tour.”We have a couple of frontline bowlers back home at the moment, Trent and Tim, saying that we’ve got some young blokes that are coming up that have a little bit of extra pace which is promising for the future mixed with some experience at the moment with Kyle Mills,” Williamson said. “Obviously, Vettori, McCullum who are all very experienced as well.”Conditions in the UAE barely mirror those the team would face in Australia and New Zealand, but Williamson explained that his side would only benefit from any experience that comes their way.”I think for us being quite a young side as well, mixed with that experience, it’s important that in any one-day game that you play, you are faced with different situations that you need to handle,” he said. “So whether they are in conditions here or back home, you’re still faced with those challenges and how we learn and develop decision-making in those will help us move forward as a one-day unit.”
