É muito jovem ainda, mas creio que lá na frente, quando entrar, vai entrar super bem. Em relação ao Gil, a gente sabe da expectativa da diretoria, da torcida corintiana, pela história que ele tem aqui. É um jogador multicampeão no clube, se vier, vai agregar, vai nos ajudar bastante, vai ser bom para o Corinthians – avaliou o defensor.

Por fim, Marllon ainda falou da pausa que os clubes brasileiros terão durante a disputa da Copa América. Para ele, esse período será essencial para ajeitar situações físicas e táticas do time para o restante da temporada.

– É favorável para toda a comissão técnica, para melhorar alguns pontos que temos que melhorar, até mesmo para dar descanso para nós atletas, alguns jogadores estão com uma sequência muito grande, e talvez não conseguiriam terminar o campeonato, então para a gente vai ser bastante favorável.

In his programme notes, Ryan ten Doeschate, the Essex captain, wrote about the need for his side to rediscover the type of form that has encouraged their Chelmsford ground to be regarded as a fortress. Tim Phillips must have been at least one avoid reader.Just as when it seemed lowly Middlesex had done enough to derail the Eagles’ charge and come away from the ground with the points, it was Phillips who staged a late assault to extend his side’s winning run to four games and keep them sitting pretty in South Group.After striding to the crease, with the home side 113 for 6 and on the brink of defeat, Phillips spanked four sixes to change the dynamic of an innings that Middlesex had controlled from the outset. With 13 to win off the final over, bowled by Gurjit Sandhu, Phillips launched one six into the boisterous Chelmsford crowd over midwicket before finishing the job with a top-edge that sailed over the rope and sent the crowd into delirium.Middlesex, who had fought so admirably and seemed as if they were going to make it two wins in three days, trudged off the field dejected. Not many sides come away from this ground on a Friday evening with the spoils and their efforts must be applauded. Yet their slim hopes of advancing to the knockout stages are now gone.A couple of days ago, the Panthers had lost eight consecutive Twenty20 games and were a side so muddled, the ignominy of a winless campaign was not implausible. They can now firmly concentrate on re-establishing their Championship form. For Essex, their interest is firmly on the Natwest T20.Should Essex manage to advance to the latter stages of this competition, they will look back on this result as one that could well shape their campaign. So parlous was their position that pockets of the 5,000 strong crowd had started heckling their own players. But all was forgotten when Phillips began depositing Middlesex’s threadbare attack to all parts.The all-rounder’s innings was made even more remarkable by what had gone before. Only Eoin Morgan had managed to bat with any sort of fluency on his way to a pugnacious half-century and even then, runs had to be earned.Morgan played with all the swagger expected from an England limited-overs specialist as he clubbed nine boundaries, including two lusty sixes, to thrust Middlesex to 153 for 5. It had seemed, for so long, that it was going to be enough but Essex had other ideas.There were given scare though. On debut, 19-year-old Harry Podmore had Jesse Ryder caught in the deep and as others scratched around him, Pettini’s innings lost the impetus he had built up during the powerplay. Their much revered batting line-up came and went without a whimper as the decibel levels decreased with every passing wicket.Phillips, however, combined with ten Doeschate to keep the contest alive and as the equation became more achievable, Middlesex’s demons resurfaced. The departure of ten Doeschate in the penultimate over, caught by a diving Morgan at cover, seemed to swing the balance back in Middlesex’s favour. But that only gave Phillips the license to free his arms.Middlesex remain over reliant on Morgan. Not only did he bind their innings together with a pugnacious half-century but his effervescence and leadership in the field sets the standards.His departure, in the fifteenth over, run-out in avoidable circumstances coming back for an improbable second, saw Middlesex’s innings direction. Neil Dexter and John Simpson were assiduous in approach rather than extravagant in the knowledge that there was little ammunition to follow with just one boundary registered in the final five overs.

وبسؤاله عن مباراة بيراميدز والجيش الراوندي في دوري أبطال إفريقيا، قال: “الفريق السماوي يضم قائمة قوية، ولديه حلم يريدون تحقيقه، لكن المهم البداية القوية”.

وواصل: “قلت إن بيراميدز كان من الممكن أن يتوج بالدوري في الموسم قبل الماضي في ظل ابتعاد القطبين عن مستواهم، لكن على أرض الواقع الأمور مختلفة”.

واختتم: “بيراميدز لديه عناصر قوية، وضم صفقات قوية، لكن الأهم الأداء داخل الملعب، والاستفادة من تلك المجموعة في وقت واحد يكون صعبًا، ومحمود صابر كان من العناصر الجيدة وتمت إعارته لـ زد”.

Angelo Mathews is not used to his team losing a series. Not this year at least. So when Sri Lanka lost their first trophy of 2014 in their first home assignment, Mathews did not hold back on the criticism of his own side.Sri Lanka played “awful cricket” on Saturday, he said, when they allowed South Africa to wallop 339 for 5, then fell 82 runs short of that score. There was no talk of “taking the positives” or dwelling on personal achievements. It was a match in which Mathews felt Sri Lanka “didn’t do anything well”.First in the firing line was the bowling and fielding, which was particularly lackluster in comparison to South Africa’s effort in the field. The hosts dropped Quinton de Kock on 38 and missed a stumping chance when he was on 71. De Kock would go on to top score with 128 and lay the foundation for South Africa’s mammoth score.”We don’t deserve to win – the way we played today,” Mathews said. “We started off pretty poorly with the ball and in the field. I think they got 20 to 30 runs too many. On the field we were pretty flat once again. Our fielding was not up to the mark. A team like South Africa is going to steal runs from us. We have to sharpen that up. We let a couple of crucial chances go.”We know our conditions at home, so we should have played better. South Africa is a very good team, and we can’t take them lightly, and I said that at the start of the tour.”No score in excess of 300 has ever been chased in Sri Lanka. Mathews, however, felt the hosts had a chance to win the match with the bat, but his team approached the chase poorly. Mathews top-scored with 58 at a strike rate of 72, and perhaps he wanted his team-mates to bat a little more like him – conserving their wickets and rotating the strike, in preparation for a big surge in the final 15 overs.However, despite a rapid start, Sri Lanka lost three wickets for six runs between the 12th and 14th overs, effectively leaving the lower middle order with too much to do.”The way we batted – I guess the middle order thought of getting the runs in 40 overs. We tried to get a few too many runs too soon and ended up giving wickets.”It was a very good wicket. The middle order could have taken the game deep, we could have chased it. We kept losing wickets at crucial stages. There are about four 30s from the top order. When we are chasing 320, someone in the top four has to score a hundred. Two of their batsmen hit centuries.”Among his frustrations with the batting order is the problem of inconsistency. Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan have been prolific for the team over the past two years, but aside from Mathews, no other batsman has strung together significant scores through that period. Lahiru Thirimanne’s Asia Cup may be the only exception.”If we take Sanga and Dilshan, they are among the runs all the time. If the others can be consistent like that, that would be great for the side. We can’t expect runs from a couple of players every match, because there are seven batsmen. Someone has to play well on a certain day. If we don’t score runs and take the responsibility, the bowlers have nothing to bowl at.”The third ODI became a double blow for Sri Lanka because it put AB de Villiers in even better touch than he had been in, as he hit 108 from 71 balls. Mathews hoped Sri Lanka would bowl better at him in the upcoming Tests.”AB is a very dangerous player, and when he gets going you can’t really bowl at him because he scores 360 degrees. He’s one of the best players I’ve seen and he’s in great form, so hopefully we can get him out early in the Test matches.”

O primeiro tempo ficou marcado pela forma que o Brasil neutralizou o Botafogo. Sem deixar a equipe da casa criar, o Xavante dominava a partida e abriu o placar aos 12 minutos. Branquinho aproveitou o rebote e mandou para dentro da rede, 1 a 0.

A desvantagem colocou a Pantera no ataque e o empate veio em cobrança de pênalti. Rafael Costa bateu firme e fez a festa da torcida.

Quando parecia que o jogo ficaria equilibrado, o Brasil de Pelotas chamou a responsabilidade e marcou dois gols na reta final do primeiro tempo. Murilo Rangel aproveitou a jogada de Bruno Paulo e estufou as redes. Nos acréscimos, Branquinho trabalhou bem a bola e tocou para Leandro Camilo ampliar.

No segundo tempo, o Bota buscou a reação nos primeiros minutos e acabou descontando na casa dos 11 minutos. Após cobrança de falta rápida, Higor Meritão driblou Heverton e mandou para dentro do gol.

O panorama do jogo mudou completamente e a pressão do Fogo quase deu resultado aos 19 minutos. Rafael Costa aproveitou a bobeira da zaga e chutou forte. Cadu, bem colocado, salvou com o pé.

Quando controlou o sufoco adversário, o Brasil de Pelotas dominou o meio-campo e evitou as investidas paulistas para sair com a vitória.
