Johan Botha has been released to play for Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, and been asked to return to South Africa in time for the ODI series against Sri Lanka

Offspinner Johan Botha has received official notice that he is not part of South Africa’s plans for the Test series against Sri Lanka. He has been released for two and a half weeks to play for Adelaide Strikers in Australia’s Big Bash League, and been asked to return to South Africa in time for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which starts on January 11.”Right now, we would not need his services in Test cricket,” Andrew Hudson, the national convenor of selectors, told ESPNcricinfo. “I wouldn’t rule him out totally, but we are comfortable to release him for this period. I’d say that if we need him, something drastic would have to happen to the other guys.”South Africa’s first-choice Test spinner is Pakistan-born Imran Tahir, who made his debut against Australia in November. Left-arm spinner Paul Harris is the official back-up, having been included in the squad against Australia, although he did not play a match. Harris was left out of the squad for the first Test against Sri Lanka, but is part of the SA Invitation XI that is playing a warm-up match against the visitors. Botha played five Tests for South Africa but is behind in the spin queue, which prompted his decision to take part in the BBL.”Gary [Kirsten] was involved in the decision and spoke to Johan about what his role is in the ODI and T20 formats, and where he is in terms of Test cricket in South Africa,” Hudson said. “We are happy for him to learn and develop his skills elsewhere.”The Warriors franchise, to which Botha is contracted, also had to agree to his release, which they did. There needs to be some way forward and it brings into the spotlight the structure of a national contract, which may have to have different terms in future.”

Bangladesh exerted pressure when they took the field but Inoka Galagedara and Sandamali Dolawatte ensured Sri Lanka didn’t stutter towards their target.”We knew today that if our bowlers restricted the side to below 200 we would do well and the best score Bangladesh have against us in 190 which was in Sri Lanka,” Dilani Manodara, Sri Lanka’s captain, said. “I do think they are a much improved side but today was our day in the field. O Atlético-PR levou a melhor sobre o Vitória em confronto direto na luta contra o rebaixamento no Campeonato Brasileiro. O Furacão venceu o time baiano por 4 a 0, na Arena da Baixada, neste domingo, e deixou a lanterna da competição.

O JOGO

Com várias mudanças em relação ao seu último jogo, o Furacão procurou controlar o jogo e construir suas jogadas pelos lados, sempre apostando nos lançamentos para o atacante Marcelo Cirino, que tinha liberdade para se movimentar. E, logo aos 11 minutos, o Furacão marcou seu primeiro gol. Em bela jogada de Jonathan pelo lado direito, o lateral ganhou campo e cruzou para Marcelo, que ganhou do zagueiro e, de cabeça, fez o seu primeiro gol no Brasileirão 2018.

E foi pelo lado direito que a equipe atleticana criou suas principais chances. Aos 18 minutos, Marcelo Cirno foi lançado, ganhou do marcador e cruzou para Pablo, que, livre, mandou pra fora. Mas, logo em seguida, o atacante foi fundamental para o segundo gol. Pablo recebeu boa bola pelo lado direito e achou Marcinho na grande área, que finalizou forte para marcar. Após os gols, o Vitória tratou de crescer no jogo e pressionar o Furacão, mas sem criar grande de perigo ao goleiro Felipe Alves.

Nos acréscimos, o Furacão ainda teve tempo de fazer o seu terceiro. A jogada começou e terminou com Wellington, que aproveitou a bobeada do goleiro para ampliar.

Na segunda etapa, o Rubro-Negro paranaense controlou o jogo, criou chances e fez o seu quarto gol. Aos 24′, Nikão, que entrou na segunda etapa, avançou bem pelo lado esquerdo e cruzou para Pablo, que, de cabeça, marcou o seu primeiro gol no jogo. O Vitória encontrou problemas no ataque, praticamente não finalizou e pouco incomodou o goleiro Felipe Alves.

A melhor chance do time baiano foi aos 48 minutos. O atacante Walysson apareceu com liberdade dentro da área e chutou forte, passando muito perto da trave direita.

Com o resultado, o Furacão chegou aos 13 pontos e pulou para a 18ª posição. Agora, o Rubro-Negro Paranaense encara o Corinthians no sábado (4), às 21h00, em Itaquera. Guptill and Kane Williamson combined to add 137 from 89 balls for the third wicket, to trump Hamilton Masakadza’s half-century and Elton Chigumbura’s finishing salvo, to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.Zimbabwe removed Rob Nicol and Brendon McCullum early, but couldn’t shake Guptill out of his imperious run of form, as he continued to torment them with an array of sweet legside hits punctuated by the odd short-form innovation. A long, languid strike over long-on off Kyle Jarvis in the fourth over was followed by a cute cut that beat third man four balls later, as Zimbabwe failed once more to trouble a batsman whose new confidence and expanded stroke range has dogged them throughout the summer.Brendan Taylor introduced spin in the fifth over, but the slow bowlers bothered Guptill no less than the wayward seamers who had conceded five wides in the first four overs. O Palmeiras chegou contra o Vasco ao quinto jogo seguido sem sofrer gols, um feito raro em 2018. A última vez que havia conseguido a mesma sequência foi em março, no Paulista. Fortalecido, o time prepara-se para testar o novo estilo copeiro na quinta-feira, quando decide uma vaga na Copa do Brasil.

A atual sequência com a meta sem ser vazada é: Paraná (3 a 0, sob o comando do interino Wesley Carvalho, Bahia (0 a 0, com Paulo Turra), América-MG (0 a 0, na estreia de Felipão), Cerro Porteño (2 a 0) e Vasco (1 a 0). Ou seja, coincide com a troca no comando técnico.

ويستضيف ملعب “الأنفيلد” مباراة الفريقين، في إطار منافسات ذهاب دور الـ16 من البطولة، موسم 2022/23.

وقال كلوب في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “ليفربول إيكو” الإنجليزية: “نحن متحمسون، إنها فرصة هائلة، إذا لم تكن مشاركًا في المباراة، فستشاهدها بكل تأكيد، إنه خصم كبير”.

وأضاف: “النتائج والطريقة التي لعبنا بها في آخر مباراتين جعلتنا نشعر وكأننا قطعنا خطوة، الآن علينا إثبات ذلك، علينا أن نمضي قدمًا بعد فوزنا على نيوكاسل”.
