A sensação térmica no Morumbi, segundo o site Climatempo, era de 16ºC na noite desta terça-feira. Em campo, pareceu bem abaixo disso. O São Paulo pouco criou e ficou em um chato 0 a 0 diante do Internacional.

O Tricolor teve escassas chances de balançar as redes e desperdiçou a oportunidade de se recuperar da derrota para o Palmeiras, no sábado. Agora, corre o risco de perder posições ao longo desta décima rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro.

Erros e chance só no fim
Fora Marcos Guilherme, que se despediu do clube, Diego Aguirre teve 11 desfalques, sentindo falta principalmente de Nenê, suspenso, e ainda decidiu poupar Jucilei, deixando-o no banco de reservas.

O técnico tentou manter o 4-2-3-1, variando para o 4-3-3, com Lucas Fernandes solto como Nenê e Tréllez teoricamente pela direita, mas mais próximo de Diego Souza. Mas o problema já ocorria na saída de bola, com Petros acumulando erros.

O Inter veio armado para contra-atacar e acabou dando campo e tempo para o Tricolor se ajustar. Quando ajustou a movimentação, o São Paulo parava nos próprios erros de passe. Assim, só criou chances no fim, em chutes de Reinaldo e bola cruzada rasteira para Diego Souza que a zaga colorada bloqueou.

Segundo tempo ainda pior
O Inter voltou do intervalo ainda mais em seu campo, travando ainda mais o Tricolor, que só levou perigo em chute de Lucas Fernandes que parou em bela defesa de Danilo Fernandes, aos cinco minutos.

Aguirre também não estava em noite inspirada, amarrando o time com Shaylon, Araruna e Paulinho Boia. E o saldo poderia ser pior, já que Pottker quase marcou para o Inter em bola que roubou de Anderson Martins na área e Leandro Damião causou aflição em duas bicicletas.

Agenda e situação na tabela
Com o empate, o São Paulo chega à vice-liderança, com 17 pontos, a três do líder Flamengo, mas perderá, ao menos, uma posição, já que Grêmio e Palmeiras se enfrentam nesta quarta-feira. No sábado, às 16h, o Tricolor tenta acabar com o tabu de nunca ter vencido o Atlético-PR na Arena da Baixada.

O Inter fica em quinto, com 16 pontos, e volta a jogar no domingo, às 19h, recebendo o Santos.

Winning the Caribbean T20 wasn’t enough to secure a Champions League berth this time, but former finalists Trinidad & Tobago roared back into the main draw with a walloping of England’s champions Leicestershire. Lendl Simmons and Adrian Barath put together T&T’s highest partnership in Twenty20 cricket, and the bowlers strangled the Leicestershire batsmen into throwing their wickets away on a slow track.T&T came across as the more aware side: while their batsmen exploited slow legs in the field (Leicestershire’s average age is more than 30), the Leicestershire top order didn’t seem to know that the legspinner Samuel Badree doesn’t turn the ball. Badree hit the stumps up twice during the most economical four-over spell in Champions League history, 4-1-7-2. The Leicestershire attack offered lengths batsmen could get under and the pace to use, whereas T&T opened with spin, and apart from Ravi Rampaul there was no pace on offer.Leicestershire would have known pace was not going to work when their captain Matthew Hoggard sent the first ball through to wicketkeeper Paul Nixon on the second bounce. Simmons went too hard at the start, survived the odd mis-hit, but stayed long enough to hurt Leicestershire. The key feature of his innings was the way he put behind him the mis-hits and the plays and misses. In the first four overs, he survived a bottom edge and a top edge, but also kept hitting fours to reach 25 off 20.Barath was more orthodox and correct, opening up only in the ninth over when he lofted Claude Henderson’s left-arm spin for six over long-off. That took him to 27 off 21; Simmons had reached 40 already. The next eight overs featured hard running, the odd boundary, fifties for both, and at 139 after 17 overs, T&T were set to tee off. Both openers then fell to top edges off successive deliveries, but Darren Bravo averted Harry Gurney’s hat-trick and lofted two exquisite sixes in the last over. Despite those two wickets, T&T managed 29 in the last three overs.Joshua Cobb began Leicestershire’s chase with a four, but Andrew McDonald summed up the effort. Twice he was cramped by Badree’s sliders before he went back to cut and was bowled. Rampaul continued his good form, taking two wickets in two overs: one a hole-out to deep cover and the other a wild swing from Wayne White that left the stumps exposed. Will Jefferson also played Badree for the turn and lost his leg stump.Sunil Narine, on the surface an innocuous little offspinner, bowls a smart legcutter, flicked almost like the carrom ball. It got rid of Paul Nixon and, at 20 for 5 in the sixth over, the rescue act was too much of a task even for the quintessential Twenty20 player, Abdul Razzaq. The talented James Taylor fought for 56 off 47, but there wasn’t much he could have done to reverse the result.

As ausências de Keno, machucado, e Borja, na seleção colombiana, abriram espaço no Palmeiras para dois atacantes formados nas categorias de base: Artur e Papagaio. Os dois foram mais usados por Roger Machado nos jogos precedentes à pausa para a Copa do Mundo e agora vão ter o período de treinos para mostrar ao chefe que seguem como opções mesmo com retornos e prováveis contratações nesta janela de transferências.

Fernando saiu do sub-20 e foi integrado junto de Papagaio, mas acertou na semana passada com o Shakhtar Donetsk, da Ucrânia, por R$ 24 milhões. Diferentemente dos outros dois citados, ele não teve oportunidades no fim do primeiro semestre.

Papagaio foi quem entrou com mais frequência. Após a convocação de Borja e críticas em cima de Deyverson, o centroavante de 19 anos tornou-se o primeiro reserva na posição e foi acionado no segundo tempo dos jogos contra América-MG, este pela Copa do Brasil, Sport e Ceará, ambos pelo Brasileirão. São seis partidas e um gol (marcado contra o Novorizontino, no Paulista) para o camisa 49 no Verdão.

Artur, de 20 anos, voltou ao Palmeiras depois de uma boa temporada pelo Londrina, em 2017. Quando se aproximava de uma chance durante o Paulista, teve de passar por duas cirurgias no tornozelo direito por conta de uma lesão antiga – a primeira para colocar pino no local, e a segunda para retirá-lo, após um incômodo.

A estreia em 2018 ocorreu no penúltimo jogo antes da pausa, contra o Ceará, quando substituiu Dudu. O veloz atacante foi usado também contra o Flamengo, desta vez na vaga de Felipe Melo, numa mexida ofensiva de Roger. Ao todo, são três jogos no profissional e nenhum gol do camisa 37.

Além dos dois, Dudu, Willian, Borja, Deyverson e Keno completam a lista de atacantes do Palmeiras. O último deve deixar o clube, pois é disputado por equipes da Arábia Saudita, em uma transação que se aproximará dos 10 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 43 milhões).

Por considerar Keno um jogador de características únicas no grupo, o Verdão deve ir ao mercado buscar uma reposição – nomes ainda não foram revelados. Ainda assim, o clube tenta, aos poucos, aumentar o uso de atletas da base no profissional.

Isto vale, também, para o meio-campo, tanto que não está nos planos contratar um volante após a venda de Tchê Tchê. Matheus Neris, do sub-20, é cotado no profissional para preencher a lacuna no elenco, junto de Jean, que voltou após uma cirurgia no joelho.

The Big PictureThe first one-day international was a rude awakening for a young England team and already the talk has begun of ‘here we go again’ when it comes to their one-day record in India. The warning signs are certainly there – three years ago India won the first ODI in Rajkot by 158 runs to begin their march to a 5-0 scoreline before the series was curtailed – and it will be a major test of the Alastair Cook-Andy Flower combination to respond to the opening result. A five-match series gives the visitors time to fight back, but that recovery has to start in Delhi otherwise there will be too much daylight between the teams.Back on home soil, with time to move on from the defeats in England, India looked much more like the marauding force that took the World Cup. For Duncan Fletcher (and, to a lesser degree, MS Dhoni) the India team is a long-term project as a rebuilding phase begins and he’ll be heartened by some of the performances. Put coloured clothes on Suresh Raina and he’s a world-beater, R Ashwin is a promising spinner, Umesh Yadav has a bit of pace and the fielding is showing signs of improvement.Then there’s the captain himself. Dhoni is a phenomenal cricketer and not only because of that helicopter shot that keeps depositing balls into the stands. He just keeps on going. Straight after the England tour – which pushed him to the limit – he was leading Chennai Super Kings at the Champions Trophy and now there’s this series. Then West Indies arrive for a full tour before a trip to face Australia down under. He’s had one break this year, but after his struggles on the early part of the England tour, is back to delivering consistently with the bat.However, despite the positive signs for the hosts, this series isn’t yet beyond England. They have shown, time and again, their ability to bounce back from disappointment. This is a team made of stern stuff. But they need to play smart cricket and think on their feet. The fast bowlers didn’t react to Dhoni’s onslaught in Hyderabad, while the middle-order collapse against spin wasn’t a new phenomenon. The batting order continues to vex minds – for, example, where is Jonathan Trott’s best position and should Ian Bell play? – while Samit Patel hasn’t really done enough since his return to the team.
