تُقام مساء اليوم الإثنين مباراة بين فريقي ليفربول وكريستال بالاس، في إطار منافسات بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

تأتي تلك المباراة في ختام منافسات الجولة الثانية من الدوري الإنجليزي، موسم 2022/23، وذلك على ملعب “الأنفيلد”.

Enquanto clubes das Séries A e B ainda têm um trabalho árduo até saber seus respectivos desfechos em 2017, os corações já estão à flor da pele nas demais divisões do futebol nacional. Nesta segunda-feira, às 21h, Operário-PR e Maranhão entram em campo no Germano Krüger pela última vaga de acesso garantida via Série D.

As demais equipes credenciadas para a Série C de 2018 foram conhecidas no último fim de semana. Na sexta-feira, o Globo-RN teve seu acesso obtido com tons de epopeia.

Lançado no decorrer do jogo devido à lesão de Rafael, o reserva Dasaev fechou o gol e contribuiu para a vitória por 1 a 0 sobre a URT, forçando a ida decisão para os pênaltis. Na marca de cal, novamente o goleiro se destacou, ao pegar duas cobranças e decretar o 3 a 2 para o clube potiguar.

No último sábado, foi a vez do Atlético-AC subir um degrau. Além da vantagem por 1 a 0 obtida como visitante, a equipe do Acre abriu o placar no início do segundo embate com o São José-RS. O Zequinha pressionou e deixou a reta final dramática, ao igualar aos 45 do segundo tempo, mas não evitou que o 1 a 1 desse a vaga ao Atlético-AC.

No último domingo, foi a vez do Juazeirense-BA desbancar o tradicional América-RN. Além de ostentar o 3 a 0 obtido na ida, a equipe baiana saiu na frente na Arena das Dunas no jogo de volta. E, mesmo levando o empate do Dragão, o 1 a 1 consolidou o Candão de Fogo na Série C de 2018.

DOIS GRUPOS DA SÉRIE C SÃO MARCADOS POR EQUILÍBRIO

Na Série C, a disputa segue acirrada para garantir quem seguirá no páreo pelas vagas no acesso. A quatro rodadas da primeira fase acabar, o Grupo A tem o CSA com situação mais confortável: a vitória por 2 a 0 sobre o Remo levou os alagoanos para a ponta, com 27 pontos.

Sampaio Corrêa, com 25, Fortaleza, com 23, e Salgueiro, com 20 pontos, completam a atual lista de classificados. Já os paraenses, que estacionaram nos 18 pontos, seguiram na quinta colocação e ainda viram o Botafogo-PB se aproximar na luta pela última vaga do Grupo A.

O Grupo B é marcado pelo equilíbrio. Com um intervalo de dois pontos entre o primeiro e o quinto colocado, os quatro classificados para as quartas de final estão no momento separados… pelo saldo de gols.

O São Bento, com 23 pontos, está na ponta. Embora tenha os mesmos 23 pontos do Tupi, o saldo de gols da equipe paulista é superior (sete contra três). Enquanto isto, três equipes estão com 21 pontos e separadas apenas por saldo de gols: Ypiranga-RS, Botafogo-SP e Joinville.

O Canário de Erechim tem sete de saldo, enquanto o Botinha está com cinco no momento. Já os dois gols positivos de saldo são insuficientes para os catarinenses seguirem na competição, no momento.

Correndo por fora está o Volta Redonda. A equipe fluminense possui 20 pontos, e quatro de saldo. Em meio a tanto mistério, a certeza é de que as próximas quatro rodadas terão fortes emoções.

Angelo Mathews, whose new-ball spells played a big part in Sri Lanka’s path to the final of the ICC World Twenty20, has said his intentions of shaping into a genuine allrounder motivated him to focus more on his bowling. Mathews capped a run-heavy domestic season with a call-up to the Test squad – for the first time in his career – in the series against Pakistan and is now eyeing the third seamer’s slot in Galle, the venue of the first Test.”Kumar Sangakkara wants me to improve on my bowling and if I play I could be the first-change bowler,” Mathews told Cricinfo. “[Chaminda] Vaas has been helping me a lot.”Mathews said recently that he didn’t bowl much in the past because of aches and pains and instead concentrated on his batting. He was the leading run-getter in the Inter-Provincial tournament but an ordinary season with the ball made him reassess his skills and potential. He spent the off-season period before the World Twenty20 working on his fitness and, in the nets, on his bowling.”I wanted to be a genuine allrounder, I have been contributing a lot with the bat in the recent past,” Mathews said. “I worked really hard on my fitness and spent a lot of time with my fast bowling coach. With the help of the seniors I improved a lot. I divided my training time into three parts each day and my focus was to improve each time.”Mathews was the surprise package in the closing stages of the World Twenty20, when captain Kumar Sangakkara’s decision to unleash him with the new ball proved to be a masterstroke. In the semi-final against West Indies, Mathews bowled Xavier Marshall, Lendl Simmons and Dwayne Bravo to leave them reeling at 1 for 3 in the first over of the chase, a position from which they never recovered. The fact that he was an unknown entity, Mathews feels, worked in his favour.”None of the batsmen had seen much of me before and didn’t know what to expect,” he said. “Chris Gayle is a devastating batsman and I just told myself that I was bowling to the batsman and not Gayle. The wickets were a little slow in England but the swing helped me. I didn’t really expect to open the bowling in England.”He ended the tournament with five wickets in seven games and a reputation enhanced. However, his performance was the ball was in contrast to the domestic season just months earlier when he was hardly amongst the wickets. In the Inter Provincial first-class tournament, he took only one wicket in five games, and in the Premier League one-dayers, he went wicketless for 28 overs. He performed relatively better in the Twenty20 tournament, taking five wickets in as many games.His A team coach in the last 12 months, Chandika Hathurusingha, recognised his potential as a bowler and was also instrumental in getting him into shape.”He was not bowling much because of injuries, and we found he was not strengthening enough so we worked a lot in that area,” Hathurusingha told Cricinfo. “He came into the A Team and he worked with me for about 12 months. We fast-tracked him from there.”The A tour of South Africa last August-September was when Mathews got more opportunities to bowl. He scored heavily, making 464 runs in seven games but managed only three wickets.”During the A tour we used him quite a lot as a bowler,” Hathurusingha said. “We placed a lot of emphasis on his all-round capabilities and we need players like him to maintain the balance in the team.”Hathurusingha, who’s also part of the coaching staff of the national team, feels Mathews has the potential to develop into a genuine allrounder in the Test side but that process will still take time.”He has to work on his fitness more than anything else. If he gets stronger, his speed will definitely improve. He is mentally very strong. What he needs to do is improve his sustainability. His progress was rapid over the last 12 months. I’m still working with him to advance his game both mentally and technically.”

According to a report by AS, sharing more news on Antonio Conte’s plans for Tottenham, it appears Steven Bergwijn is now on the chopping block.

The Lowdown: Conte era begins…

As the new Spurs boss comes through the doors at N17, taking charge of the Lilywhites, much has been made of who will both come in and depart the club.

Tottenham have been linked with a host of Serie A stars already, including the likes of Federico Chiesa, Stefan de Vrij, Dusan Vlahovic, Alessio Romagnoli and Matthijs de Ligt (Calciomercato.it).

Meanwhile, there have been rumours that Tanguy Ndombele could now depart in January as Spurs eye an overhaul for Conte.

As well as Ndombele, AS have now shared who else manager Conte is personally plotting to sell.

The Latest: Bergwijn up for sale…

According to their information, as Conte eyes his preferred transfer targets, there are four names he is personally planning to discard from Spurs.

Dele Alli, Lucas Moura, Giovani Lo Celso and Bergwijn are all said to be on the chopping block with the latter man coming as a particularly surprising name given his form at times under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo this season.

The Verdict: Go time?

The Dutchman attracted praise from the ex-Lilywhites boss for being a ‘unique’ and a ‘very talented’ member of the squad and was a fixture on Nuno’s team sheet when fit and available.

Conte has been widely tipped to use a three-at-the-back formation on a consistent basis for Spurs, most likely a 3-4-1-2, and it is debatable where Bergwijn fits into that system as a natural winger.

The same goes for Lucas, who has impressed for Spurs as well whilst completing more dribbles per 90 than any Lilywhites player in the Premier League (WhoScored).

Both men now find themselves in a completely different situation under Conte than Nuno and it remains to be seen whether Bergwijn can work his way into the Italian’s permanent team sheet and off his transfer exit list.

Visando preparar uma nova safra de talentos, o Cruz-Maltino assinou o primeiro contrato profissional de jogadores do sub-17 que são considerados o futuro do sub-20. Na última semana, ovolante Victor Hugo, o meia Róger Ribeiro e o atacante Vinícius, da geração 2001, selaram vínculo com o clube até 2020. Vale destacar que no início do mês o goleiro Lucão, também do sub-17, assinou seu primeiro compromisso.

– Considero normal o grande aproveitamento de jogadores no profissional. O sub-20 teve um desempenho excelente e a promoção é um prêmio merecido para os meninos. A base tem como principal finalidade projetar atletas e conseguimos atingir esse objetivo na temporada. Nossa missão agora é reconstruir o time júnior, descobrindo novos atletas e abrindo passagem para os garotos do juvenil. With just 12 goals conceded in their opening 11 Premier League games of the season, Southampton boast a better defensive record than a number of clubs currently above them in the league table such as West Ham United, Arsenal and Manchester United among others.

Taking this into account, one player, in particular, that we feel has significantly contributed to Southampton’s fairly sturdy defence this season is Mohammed Salisu.

The 22-year-old has played the full 90 minutes in all but one of Southampton league games so far this season, highlighting just how important he has been for Ralph Hasenhuttl, especially in the absence of fellow Saints defender Jack Stephens who picked up a serious knee injury during their 0-0 draw against Manchester City back in September.

Southampton signed the defender back in August 2020 from Spanish club Real Valladolid in a deal worth a reported fee of £10.9m.

During his time on the pitch this season in the Premier League, Salisu, who has been described as “nasty” in terms of his defensive tenacity by Hasenhuttl, has made 24 tackles overall, with an average of 2.5 interceptions per game and 3.8 clearances per game, highlighting how active he has been at the back for the Saints as Hasenhuttl’s secret weapon with Stephens out on the sidelines.

In addition to his defensive contributions, Salisu’s overall performances in the league have earned him an overall season rating of 7.1/10, making him Southampton’s highest-rated player according to WhoScored, higher than club captain James Ward-Prowse, who has two goals under his belt this season.

Looking at this season compared to the previous one that saw Salisu struggle with injuries and started just eight out of the 12 league games he appeared in, it’s safe to say this season has been a much better one for the 22-year-old than the last one was, which should be very encouraging for everyone at St. Mary’s.

Moving forward, if Salisu can keep this impressive form up for as long as he can throughout the remainder of the season, he could well push them to a top-half finish if the players ahead of him on the pitch can do their bit in front of goal on a regular basis.

Dorival Júnior só terá seu grupo completo na quinta-feira, sem a certeza de que todos trabalharão normalmente no CT da Barra Funda. Rodrigo Caio, Arboleda e Cueva, que passaram os últimos dez dias disputando as Eliminatórias para a Copa do Mundo de 2018, devem se apresentar no São Paulo apenas no feriado de 7 de Setembro.

O desembarque deles no Brasil até alterou o horário do treino de quinta-feira, que passou da manhã para a tarde. Um dos motivos para a mudança foi o fato de que Cueva e Arboleda chegam a São Paulo somente na manhã de quinta-feira, e o maior esforço é pelo peruano – Rodrigo Caio, nome certo no time que enfrenta a Ponte Preta, no sábado, pousa no País na noite desta quarta-feira.

Cueva vive má fase e, ao longo do período em que ficou com a seleção, Lucas Fernandes foi preparado para jogar em sua posição. A escolha entre um dos dois para enfrentar a Ponte Preta será feita em trabalhos sem a presença da imprensa, na quinta e na sexta.

E ainda não existe a certeza de que Cueva treinará na quinta, o que diminui suas possibilidade de ser titular. Caso seja preservado do trabalho na quinta-feira, só terá feito atividade com a equipe montada por Dorival Júnior na véspera da partida de sábado. Mais um indício, além de suas fracas atuações pelo clube, de que Lucas Fernandes ganhará uma chance.

O peruano deve chegar desgastado. Iniciou as duas partidas do Peru, ambas vencidas por 2 a 1: fez um golaço no triunfo sobre a Bolívia, em Lima, na quinta, atuando até os 33 minutos do segundo tempo, e participou do segundo gol da equipe, marcado por Hurtado, diante do Equador, em Quito, nessa terça, jogando até os 35 minutos do segundo tempo.

Arboleda desembarca no Brasil na manhã de quinta-feira, junto com Cueva, já que ambos se enfrentaram em Quito nessa terça-feira. Mas não há pressa em relação ao zagueiro, que cumprirá suspensão por acúmulo de cartões amarelos contra a Ponte (Aderllan, Lugano e Bruno Alves disputam sua vaga). É bem provável que treine normalmente na quinta-feira, já em São Paulo, ajustando-se ao lado do substituto de Arboleda.

O atacante Brenner, que ficou à disposição da Seleção sub-17 na semana passada para disputar amistosos, já está treinando no CT da Barra Funda desde terça-feira e não desfalcará o São Paulo diante da Ponte Preta. Mas deve continuar apenas como opção no banco de reservas.
