Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to have their transfer embargo lifted this summer.

What’s the latest?

That’s according to the Yorkshire Live journalist Dom Howson, who claimed in a post on Twitter that the Owls are looking to have their embargo lifted prior to the summer transfer window opening on June 9th.

Howson also revealed in a recent Q&A session on Yorkshire Live that Darren Moore’s side are “quietly confident” of being successful with the application for the removal of their ban.

Positive news

After what has been an extremely disappointing campaign that fans of Sheffield Wednesday have had to endure, with their side finishing rock bottom of the Championship table, the news that the club believes they will be able to sign players in the summer transfer window is a positive update indeed.

With Dejphon Chansiri confirming that Darren Moore will be the man in charge of the Owls next season, the 47-year-old being able to actively recruit his targets in order to give Wednesday the best possible chance of promotion from League One is undoubtedly a good thing.

And, with no less than 18 contracted Wednesday players who have deals expiring this summer, many of whom are on extremely costly wages, Moore looks set to have something of a blank canvas at Hillsborough this summer, allowing him to mould the squad into one in his own image.

So, while the recent disappointment of relegation will no doubt still be hanging over the Owls fanbase, Howson’s claim that the club looks likely to be able to bring in fresh faces in the upcoming transfer window is something that will surely leave them buzzing – as this is very much the first step in getting their club back on track ahead of their campaign in the third tier of English football.

Rangers have been linked with America de Cali winger Santiago Moreno recently, and should the youngster make the move to Ibrox this summer, he could be a superb addition to Steven Gerrard’s side.

According to Football Insider, both Rangers and Leeds United are keen on the 21-year-old, who has established himself as a regular with the Liga Dimayor side this season.

The report suggests that both clubs have been tracking the winger ahead of a potential summer move and would likely have to shell out £5m in order to prise him away from the Colombian side.

Football Insider added that he is ‘blisteringly quick’ and has been likened to Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane in the past, which certainly suggests that he could be a great player for the future at Ibrox.

Would he be a good signing?

In 48 appearances for America de Cali, Moreno has contributed nine goals and seven assists, which is an impressive return for someone so young, and suggests that he has the potential to be a dangerous goalscoring threat in Gerrard’s side next season.

Both Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi have been linked with moves away from Ibrox ahead of the summer transfer window, which suggests that Gerrard may need to add another winger to his squad ahead of the Gers’ return to Champions League football next season, and Moreno could certainly fit the bill.

If the Colombian youngster were to reach anywhere near the level of Mane, then he would certainly be a worthwhile addition by Ross Wilson this summer.

The Senegal international has established himself as one of the world’s best wingers since joining Liverpool from Southampton in a £34m deal in 2016, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to Champions League and Premier League triumphs.

The “unbelievable” 29-year-old, as hailed by Klopp, has contributed an impressive 95 goals and 42 assists in 216 appearances for the Reds, which has seen his market value rise to £90m according to Transfermarkt, and he will also likely be well-known by Gerrard, who is an icon at Anfield.

Therefore, he would undoubtedly love to have a player similar to Mane in his Rangers squad next season, so Wilson should definitely try and bring the youngster to Ibrox, as he could well become a superstar in the future.

Michael Stewart says Celtic could have held onto Scott Brown had they moved to replace Neil Lennon more quickly.

The former Scottish international was speaking on Sunday’s edition of Sportscene.

The lowdown

Celtic parted ways with Neil Lennon at the end of February but have yet to appoint a long-term successor.

Around a month after Lennon’s resignation, Brown announced that he would call time on his 14-year Celtic career.

He signed a pre-contract agreement with Aberdeen and will join in a player-coach role (via The Guardian) – the 35-year-old skipper played his last game in Celtic colours on Saturday, a goalless draw with Hibernian.

Brown won 10 Scottish league titles, six Scottish Cups and seven Scottish League Cups in Glasgow (via Transfermarkt).

Callum McGregor, set to don the armband going forward, insisted that the veteran ‘hasn’t lost a yard’, hailing Brown as ‘absolutely immense’ and a ‘first class’ player.

The latest

Stewart doesn’t think Brown’s departure should have been regarded as inevitable, saying the midfielder still has plenty to offer on the field.

“I can’t help but think that had Celtic been able to get this managerial situation sorted earlier, that Scott Brown could well have been hanging round there for longer.

“But what Celtic have lost is Aberdeen’s gain, forgetting the assistant manager’s role.”

The verdict

Brown must have been torn. On the one hand, Lennon’s departure and the breaking of Celtic’s stranglehold marked the natural end of an era, with a rebuild in the offing.

But on the other, he surely wanted to go out on a high rather than such a dismal low for the football club, and perhaps it would have been enjoyable to lead a new era as an experienced head, even if not a major part of the first-team action.

O artigo 5.1 inciso D do manual diz que não é permitido ao Flamengo incluir emblemas ou sinais de outros clubes na sua camisa.

– Sou contra a colocação do escudo porque isso não está de acordo com o manual. Colocar o escudo no uniforme é a maneira menos criativa possível – disse Eduardo Vinícius.

A questão será tratada na reunião do Conselho Deliberativo do Flamengo, marcada para a próxima quinta-feira. O conselho tem soberania para abrir exceções caso haja maioria simples de votos. A tendência é que a posição de Eduardo Vinícius seja minoria.

كشف أمير مرتضى منصور المشرف على الكرة بنادي الزمالك عن تعيين البرتغالي دانيال جونزاليس محللا للأداء بالجهاز المعاون للبرتغالي جيسفالدو فيريرا بدلا من مواطنه بيدرو  بوكاش.

ويستعد الزمالك لمواجهة الوداد المغربي مساء غدًا الجمعة ضمن منافسات دور المجموعات من دوري أبطال إفريقيا.

وأوضح أمير في تصريحات للموقع الرسمي للزمالك أن فيريرا كان يفاضل بين جونزاليس وبوكاش لتولي منصب مدرب الأحمال وكان الاختيار الأول له دانيال جونزاليس ولكنه كان يرتبط بعمل في أحد الأندية مما دفعه لضم بوكاش قبل أن ينجح جونزاليس في فسخ تعاقده مع ناديه.

ووصل دانيال جونزاليس إلى القاهرة صباح اليوم لبدء مهام عمله بالجهاز المعاون.
