Luck of the dayAndrew Strauss had yet to settle in an arduous first hour, and had inched along to 4 not out from 30 balls when he shuffled across his crease to clip Morne Morkel firmly off his hip … and straight into the hands of Ashwell Prince at leg gully. It was a perfect plan, perfectly executed – Prince had only moved to that position one delivery earlier – but Morkel’s galumphing front foot ruined the moment. واستطرد: “أنزعج من جملة أزمة مهاجمين في مصر، أرى نفسي أفضل مهاجم في مصر ولكن لا أعلم ما يراه الناس”.

وأتم: “ما يقلل من قيمة محمد صلاح، أقول له إنه يشرف مصر وينافس على أفضل لاعب في العالم، لا يليق أن نقلل من أسطورة مثل صلاح، قصة كفاح كبيرة جدًا”.

What’s the word?

One of the primary issues for Bruno Lage heading into the new season should be the fitness of Raul Jimenez.

The Mexican has scored in pre-season, but only time will tell whether he can discover his best form after recovering from a fractured skull.

As such, the Old Gold are in the market for a new striker. Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite has been on their radar but they’re now interested in another long-term target once again.

According to the Mirror, Wolves want to sign Liverpool forward Divock Origi before the window closes. He was a player they considered back in the winter.

Origi is currently valued at just £10.8m via Transfermarkt.

Swerve a move

Wolves may require extra bodies in the final third in order to lend a hand to Jimenez but they’d be taking a huge gamble on Origi, one that would bring back vibes of Willian Jose.

The big Brazilian signed for the Molineux outfit on loan back in January as cover for their Mexican sensation.

However, he had a turgid time in the Midlands, scoring just once in the Old Gold and failing to link up play to any sufficient level.

They had an £18m option to buy the Real Sociedad attacker but rightfully rejected the chance to do so.

Yet, by landing Origi in the coming weeks, they may just have a player of a similar ilk.

Described as a “monster” by Vincent Kompany, the Belgian super sub has scored some important goals down the years for Liverpool, namely against Barcelona in Europe and then in the Champions League final against Spurs.

That being said, his ability to find goals on a regular basis has to be questioned. Like Jose, his record certainly isn’t the best, but you have to consider his lack of match action.

The 26-year-old has beaten the goalkeeper on 35 occasions in 157 outings for Liverpool and only started two league games in the whole of the 2020/21 campaign.

He might know the English game, but there are better options out there in a window where Wolves are strapped for cash.

Like Jose, this would be a huge risk from Lage and Fosun. They must swerve a deal this summer.

Essa questão permeia a expectativa dos flamenguistas, sobretudo pelo “outro patamar” que a equipe atingiu sob o comando de Jorge Jesus. SeTorrent vai manter o padrão de jogo adotado pelo português ou não, ainda é cedo para afirmar, mas o fato é que ambos têm perfis distintos em relação a estratégias ofensivas, principalmente.

Torrent assinará com o Flamengo até 12/2021

Por trabalhar em três clubes (Barcelona, Bayern de Munique e Manchester City) como auxiliar de Pep Guardiola,Domènec Torrententronizar um estilo ofensivo no qual, na busca pelo controle da posse de bola e jogo de posição, suas equipes alarguem o campo com extremos de velocidade – e fixos.

Os laterais também tendem a ser agudos, em prol de mais opções de passe pelo domínio diante dos adversários. Em suma: aproximação, toques curtos e muita utilização do goleiro na saída de bola, por exemplo, foram uma tônica apresentada por Torrent no New York City FC, onde ficou de 2018 a 2019 e fez uma campanha memorável para a franquia na Major League Soccer (MLS).

DIFERENÇAS COM JORGE JESUS

Com Jesus, o Flamengo atuava com dois laterais que construíam por dentro (Rafinha e Filipe Luís),dois “avançados” móveis (Bruno Henrique e Gabigol) e dois meias também construtores (Everton Ribeiro e Arrascaeta), que tinham a liberdade para flutuar por dentro a fim de abastecer o ataque.

Além disso, o time do Mister visava a verticalidade, com menos passes para chegar à area.Ou seja: uma proposta diferente em relação a Dome, embora a dupla, no quesito defensivo, cobre os jogadores para que a bola seja recuperada ainda no campo de ataque, pressionando o portador da bola.

Não é justo cravar modelo “mais certo” ou “mais errado”. A questão é acompanhar se o estrelado elenco do Flamengo se adequará de imediato ao novo perfil ofensivo, caso Torrent opte por explorá-lo ao assumir.

Sobretudo na organização defensiva, que inicia com seus atacantes marcando forte a saída de bola dos adversários – característica que nenhum rubro-negro gostaria de ver o Flamengo abrindo mão. O catalão Domènec comandará o Flamengo sob a sombra comparativa do seu antecessor. Entre essas diferenças e semelhanças, a premissa de ambos é ser o protagonista, ter a bola em todo instante, e claro, vencer. Domènec Torrent apresentará à América o conceito “Guardiolismo” – jogo refinado e de maior influência nas últimas décadas – um estilo que há alguns anos parecia distante a realidade do futebol brasileiro.

-Domènec se define como treinador proativo, que gosta de controlar o jogo pela bola. Propõe um jogo intenso e ofensivo, como o rubro-negro gosta. Tem diferenças em relação a Jorge Jesus, claro, mas parece perfeitamente capaz de se adaptar e construir em cima do legado deixado pelo português.

There is still a lot of doubt surrounding Alfredo Morelos’ future at Rangers as we enter the final month of the transfer window, with Porto reportedly keen on adding to the Colombian to their squad, and it would be a huge blow for Steven Gerrard if he were to leave Ibrox.

What’s the word?

The Portuguese side have regularly been linked with the 25-year-old forward throughout the transfer window and following the signing of Fashion Sakala, it seems as if Gerrard already has his replacement ready should he depart.

In a recent interview with The Transfer Tavern, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge claimed that:

“I think Porto are the club that still want him.”

Rumours have died down in recent weeks, perhaps due to Morelos’ involvement in the Copa America earlier in the summer but from what Bridges suggests, Rangers should be expecting another bid from Porto for their star striker in the near future.

Would it be a blow if Morelos were to leave Rangers?

Since joining Rangers in 2017, Morelos has gone on to make 182 appearances for the Gers, contributing an impressive 94 goals and 43 assists in that time, whilst he also played a key part in their title success last season.

The Colombia international also became Rangers’ top scorer in European competitions when he broke Ally McCoist’s record last year, so Gerrard will surely want to keep him around as they prepare to feature in the Champions League, with their qualifying campaign beginning against Malmo tomorrow evening.

Morelos has regularly been dubbed “outstanding” by Gerrard during his tenure at Ibrox and he is much more than just a goalscorer in this Rangers side, so it would be a huge blow to lose a player of his quality.

However, he has less than two years left on his contract at Ibrox and is currently valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, so this summer might be the best time to sell him from a financial perspective, although Rangers are pretty much guaranteed to make a significant profit on the £1m they reportedly paid to sign him from HJK Helsinki.

Rangers’ attack would look considerably weaker if he were to leave, so Gers fans will surely be worried that Porto reportedly retain an interest in signing Morelos this summer.

If they do come in for him, given his contract situation, Rangers may decide that the time is right, from a business perspective, to cash in.

From a financial viewpoint, that makes sense, but it would still be a blow for Gerrard to lose the club’s best-ever European goalscorer in a season where he wants his side to compete in Europe’s elite club competition.
