They are desperate to move up the ICC ladder, but joining the elite of world cricket can often feel a harder job that breaking into Fort Knox.There remains intense frustration within Ireland at the pace that they are able to further their ambitions due to the limited exposure they receive against Full Member nations, who are content to play among themselves in some largely context-less ODI series that fill up the global calendar.Some players, such as the vocal Trent Johnston, are not afraid to suggest it is because teams are “scared” of losing to Ireland, while others take a more measured approach, remaining grateful for what Ireland have and being cautious not to alienate those who do provide the valuable experiences that the team requires.Along with Johnston, Ed Joyce is an elder statesman of Irish cricket – so much so that he left once before returning after dropping off the England radar – and he admitted that living off “crumbs” from other international tours left Ireland “begging” for more opportunities. Joyce believes they have more than proved their worth at the top level.”We are still in the situation where we are almost begging for fixtures, which is obviously not ideal because we feel as a competitive side we have gone past that,” Joyce told ESPNcricinfo at the launch of the RSA Challenge match against England, which will be held on September 3 at Malahide.”It is frustrating that we aren’t getting more fixtures but I wouldn’t want to point fingers. “The two games against Pakistan showed that we have made great strides. An inter-provincial tournament has been re-launched to try and improve the standards for those who do not play county cricket and ultimately there is a plan to launch a first-class competition so that players can remain in Ireland with a view of building a Test side.The recent debut of Boyd Rankin in England’s Twenty20 against New Zealand has rubber-stamped another player slipping from Ireland’s grasp – even if Rankin had long-since made his intentions clear – although a recent tweak to the ICC regulations means that he would now need only two years to re-qualify for Ireland rather than the four that Joyce had to go through.”I think it’s a fairer rule, because there’s no real option for the likes of Boyd,” Joyce said. “I would like to think Boyd and Eoin Morgan’s generation will be the last who feel they have to make that decision so they can play at the highest level. Boyd is desperate to play Test cricket, and fair play to him, we wish him well.”Now the likes of George Dockrell, Paul Stirling, Stuart Thompson and James Shannon, they have more of a chance to play at a higher level with Ireland. But until we get to a stage where we are regularly playing against top nations – and that will only happen when we attain some higher membership status, either Test status or increased ODI status – I think you might have the odd player who feels they have to make that move to further their own ambitions.”Hopefully the ICC will see that Ireland are improving and are fulfilling all the criteria they want of us to play more teams. And all Ricky Ponting needed to do for most of the day was watch from the sidelines.At 37, Vikram Solanki is one of those veterans whose move to The Oval has earned Surrey criticism from a number of directions – not because the former Worcestershire player is a poor signing, by any means, but for the fact his arrival, and that of others, may have blocked the progress of home grown talent.Well, whatever the rights and wrongs of Surrey’s recruitment policy, watching Solanki in prime form has never been anything less than a pleasure. And in terms of what the acting captain’s first hundred in these colours could do for his new county, the hierarchy must feel he is worth every penny.Surrey are without a win in the Championship, and the odds are against them breaking their duck here with only a day remaining. But this was the sort of dominating performance which they were expected to produce on a regular basis in 2013 – and it ought to do wonders for their confidence for the rest of the campaign.In fairness to Sussex, who have lost their position as table-toppers to Yorkshire, the visitors enjoyed the best batting conditions of the match either side of tea when there was barely a cloud in the sky. Foi um pedido para testar o som do microfone e o jogador não hesitou em dar mais uma demonstração de sua paixão pelo time de infância. Urso está empolgado com a chance de defender o Timão e já projeta onde vai se encaixar na equipe de Fábio Carille, na qual ele enxerga uma lacuna: um volante rompedor de linhas, como se define.

-Eu estou bem, ainda não o ideal, preciso melhorar ainda. Penso que vai funcionar bem, sou o tipo de volante que rompe essas linhas, acho que todo clube precisa de um jogador assim. Então acho que vai cair bem no clube. Assisti aos jogos, vi que de repente falta algo assim, alguém chegando de surpresa ali – afirmou Urso.

-Vejo como uma disputa interessante (por posição), até porque todo mundo tem uma característica diferente. Eu venho para agregar nessa situação, que de repente não sei se falta ou se não estão fazendo, que é esse rompimento das linhas, de chegar ao ataque, com força. Assisti contra o Palmeiras, e achei que várias vezes eles deram essa oportunidade, de chegar ali. Consegui me enxergar ali, claro que de fora, mas de dentro também tenho essa leitura, acho que está faltando um pouco – completou o jogador de 29 anos, que assinou contrato válido por três temporadas.

Júnior Urso mostrou muita personalidade na entrevista. Tocou no ponto de ter revelado que é torcedor do Corinthians quando foi contratado e disse que não se importa caso isso venha a fechar portas no futuro, em outros clubes, mas admite que o peso será maior.

-O que pressiona é o fato de eu ter exposto para todos, minha vida. Eu tenho de ir bem para a oportunidade que eu tenho, porque de repente se eu não for bem, pode fechar portas em outros clubes. Mas nem penso em outros lugares, minha ideia é permanecer aqui o máximo possível. Espero que Corinthians e Urso caminhem bem para títulos que a torcida vai apoiar – declarou o jogador.

Minha família toda é fanática. Meu irmão tem uma tatuagem do Corinthians. Sempre acompanhei pela televisão, porque jogando era difícil ver. Nunca deixei de acompanhar

Abriu mão de dinheiro para fechar?
Digamos que sim. Saí da China com situação bem encaminhada para voltar ao Brasil. Aí surgiram algumas coisas, eu não sabia de nada, assimilando o que fazer, aí a partir do momento que recebi a ligação, contato direto do clube, mudou meu pensamento, independente de valores. É aqui que eu queria estar, estou muito feliz, isso superou qualquer valor.

Qual a origem do apelido Urso?
Na base, eu sempre tinha esse cabelo, trançado. Mas um empresário meu disse que eu não podia chegar nos times assim. Aí tirei, o cabelo grande, e quando comecei a pegar na bola, já começaram a chamar de urso. E também descobriram que eu durmo muito, aí pegou. Eu gosto, tinha muito Júnior, diferencia. Quando colocar no Google, virá meu nome (risos).

اشتد الصراع بين بايرن ميونخ وآرسنال للتعاقد مع الدولي الإنجليزي، ديكلان رايس لاعب خط وسط وست هام يونايتد، رغم اهتمام تشيلسي.

وبحسب التقارير البريطانية، والصحفي الإيطالي المتخصص في سوق الانتقالات، فابريزيو رومانو، فإن آرسنال متخوف من اهتمام بايرن ميونخ بديكلان رايس.

ويأتي تخوف آرسنال من العملاق البافاري بسبب توماس توخيل، المدير الفني، حيث أنه مشجع كبير للاعب، ومتمسك بجلبه لملعب أليانز أرينا، وأن بطل الدوري الألماني على استعداد لدفع 100 مليون يورو للتعاقد مع رايس.

وينتظر آرسنال مباراة نهائي دوري المؤتمر الأوروبي، بين فيورنتينا الإيطالي ووست هام يونايتد الإنجليزي، الأربعاء المقبل، وسيقدم بعدها عرضا رسميًا، ولديهم ثقة بقدرتهم على إقناع اللاعب بالانتقال إليهم.

ويحاول آرسنال أيضًا التعاقد مع الإكوادوري مويسيس كايسيدو، صاحب الـ21 عاما، لاعب وسط برايتون، حيث يبدو رحيله مؤكد عن طيور النورس في الانتقالات الصيفية المقبلة.
